Outstanding applicants are sought for a post of Reader (Associate Professors) in Robotics Engineering in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. The post is a fast track opportunity for promotion to (Full) Professor and to provide inspirational excellence and leadership in the University’s expanding multi-disciplinary robotics research. The ability to help manage and contribute to our new MEng Robotics Engineering and MSc Robotics and Autonomous Systems, http://www.bath.ac.uk/departments/department-of-electronic-electrical-engineering/, is also required.

The Department has a strong record in both research and teaching and close collaborations with industry. 91% of its research activity was graded as either world-leading or internationally excellent in the Research Excellence Framework 2014 and it is consistently very highly ranked in the National Student Survey, for example 95.76% Overall Satisfaction in NSS 2017, 4thin the UK.

Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and have extensive relevant experience in an academic or research-fussed environment, a substantial record of publications, a strong track record of grant capture and successful supervision of research staff and students. In addition to a full CV, applicants must provide an outline of plans for the post (up to 5 pages). The outline should have a strong research focus, including funding plans and a vision for multi-disciplinary robotics research, but should also cover teaching. The fit of the research vision with existing robotics and autonomous systems research in the Departments of Electronic & Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and elsewhere in the University should also be covered.
